John Tatchell Freeman (1958-2021) was an English artist, writer and philosopher.

The Abraxas Press will posthumously publish and distribute the written and printed works of this significant artist.

PARIS WORKINGS (2023)

 

Paris Workings is the final part of the trilogy which includes ‘I London’ (2000) and ‘Descent to Byworth’ (2003), it can be considered John’s magnum opus. Work started in the early 1990s and continued up until his death. This behemoth of an endeavour includes 6 paintings, untold numbers of drawings and over 150 etchings, some of which have been completed but never printed. Over 25,000 words of wonderful prose, vignettes and observations accompany the imagery.

Between the Gate of the Sun and the Gate of the Moon is an anthology of collated writings inspired and illustrated by 50 drypoints and etchings of ‘Dimitra’.

THE SHAPE OF SHAPE (2023)

The Shape of Shape expands upon the seminal ideas presented in Freeman’s Grid (Published in 2012) that outlined the framework of John T. Freeman’s theories on interconnectivity, consciousness and existence. There’s no doubt that he arrived at his conclusions through a life lived completely submerged within art and shape. The following book has been assembled from the drafts, notes, illustrations and spoken words of John, which an attempt has been made to collate and transcribe faithfully and effectively.
